Equipment Maintenance Technician – Semiconductor Fab

Job Summary

The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of semiconductor fabrication equipment. This role requires a deep understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and tools, along with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex equipment in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance on semiconductor equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and production efficiency.
Troubleshoot and repair a variety of fab equipment, including but not limited to photolithography, etching, deposition, and metrology tools.
Conduct diagnostics using specialized tools and techniques to quickly identify equipment malfunctions or performance issues.
Collaborate with process engineers and equipment engineers to address and resolve equipment-related issues that impact production.
Document all maintenance activities, including repairs, parts replaced, and preventative measures taken, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Monitor equipment performance and make necessary adjustments to meet production and quality standards.
Assist with the installation, testing, and qualification of new equipment in the fab.
Provide training and guidance to operators on proper equipment handling and basic troubleshooting techniques.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures while working on and around semiconductor equipment.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or technical certification in electronics, mechanical engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of experience working with semiconductor fabrication equipment or in a related high-tech manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment.
Hands-on experience with tools used in maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of complex equipment.
Excellent troubleshooting skills with a focus on minimizing production downtime.
Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and adhere to stringent protocols.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree or technical certification in electronics, mechanical engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience with specific semiconductor equipment platforms
Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) metrics.
Previous experience in a semiconductor fab environment.
Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment.
Hands-on experience with tools used in maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of complex equipment.
Excellent troubleshooting skills with a focus on minimizing production downtime.
Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and adhere to stringent protocols.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and handle components weighing up to 25kg.
Comfortable working in confined spaces and standing for long periods.

Hardware and Process Development Engineer – Semiconductor Fab

Job Summary

The Hardware and Process Development Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing, and validating semiconductor manufacturing processes and hardware configurations to meet stringent production and performance goals. This role requires a deep understanding of both process engineering and semiconductor fabrication equipment, along with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in advanced technology nodes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimize semiconductor fabrication processes (e.g., etch, deposition, lithography, etc.) to achieve high-quality results, including yield improvement, performance enhancement, and cost reduction.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, equipment engineers, and R&D teams, to design, test, and implement hardware modifications and new process flows.
Drive the evaluation, qualification, and implementation of new hardware components or tool sets, ensuring compatibility with existing processes and production goals.
Lead experiments and trials to identify the best process conditions, optimize tool settings, and validate new equipment or hardware configurations.
Troubleshoot and resolve process or equipment issues that affect production performance, reliability, or yield.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on process deviations, defects, or failures, and implement corrective actions to improve process robustness and equipment reliability.
Collaborate with vendors and equipment suppliers to drive hardware improvements and tool upgrades.
Analyze and monitor key process indicators (KPIs) and statistical process control (SPC) data to ensure optimal process control and continuous improvement.
Generate detailed documentation, including process specifications, equipment configurations, and experimental results.
Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing and operations teams during process scale-up, equipment installation, and production ramp.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in semiconductor process development, hardware design, or related areas.
Strong understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes, including etch, deposition, lithography, or metrology.
Experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment platforms and tools.
Hands-on experience in hardware troubleshooting, process tuning, and tool qualification in a fab environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and root cause analysis.
Familiarity with process control methods (e.g., SPC, DOE) and metrology techniques.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with advanced technology nodes (e.g., 10nm, 7nm, 5nm) in a production or R&D environment.
Knowledge of process modeling and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, CFD).
Experience with vacuum systems, RF plasma, and other semiconductor-specific technologies.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in a cleanroom environment, including adherence to gowning protocols.
Willingness to participate in hands-on work with complex semiconductor equipment.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment with tight deadlines.
